This audio drama is based on the children’s book "Das kleine Ich bin Ich", but was reinterpreted for an adult audience. While the original narration was kept word-for-word, we recontextualized the story: the “little I-am-me” becomes a woman in a club taking drugs, losing her sense of self, and finally returning to reality.
The result is a unique mix of familiar storytelling and experimental sound design, transforming a classic children’s tale into an immersive experience for grown-ups.
Role: Voice acting (multiple animals), intro & outro design, sound effects, scene corrections and mixing & mastering (with one partner) within a team of 5
Tech: Recordings were made in a Studio, ProTools
Production time: ~2 weeks
Platform: Soundcloud
Language: German
Narration: Original children’s text, reinterpreted through sound for a new context
Voice acting: I performed several animal characters myself
Sound design: Created intro & outro, added effects and atmospheres throughout
Mixing & mastering: Worked on balancing 20+ tracks in dense scenes, ensuring consistency across all recordings
Consistency: Unifying different recording qualities and EQ’ing many voices, often multiple characters performed by the same actor
Standards: Matching and raising other scenes to the mixing/mastering level I set with my co-engineer
Complex scenes: Handling 20+ tracks simultaneously in dense sections (intro/outro), balancing atmospheres and dialogue cleanly
This production taught me how to shape an atmosphere through sound alone and how much story can change depending on audio design. I gained valuable experience in voice acting, large-scale mixing sessions, and mastering consistency across many different tracks. It also showed me the importance of collaboration in creative audio production, especially when ensuring a unified sound across multiple contributors.
